Zavoral Villa!

 We've been enduring some unusually hot weather for this area. Normally, it's 70-76 degrees with a week or two in Aug of 82-85 degrees. In Huntington Beach it's been 88-95+ degrees almost everyday for over two months. Like us, most people in HB don't have air conditioning, so we get pretty toasty in this heat...and sticky. Sticky enough that things like quarters will stick to our bellies.  And we get a little uncomfortable... And extra tired... And we even get a little crazy!  And sometimes the heat makes us lose our common sense, and Mom let's her baby fall off the couch and sprain his wrist.  Tanner wouldn't put any weight on his arm for 2 days after he fell. So we took him in for x-rays. They couldn't get very good pictures, but they are pretty sure it was just a sprain.  It was too hot to wear the brace and bandage longer than a day. He seems fine now!  With this heat and humidity, Tanner's hair gets a nice curl. I love it!  And since it's too ho...

Once upon a warm afternoon in September, a mommy fell more in love with her baby son.

Even though Jeremy started another term of grad school (MBA at USC) and even though we're both working full time, we still have family time. We get 3-4 hours from the time I pick up Tanner each day to the time he goes to bed. We try to make the most of every minute! And of course, weekends are spent together as often as possible.  Jeremy caught this picture Saturday morning a couple weekends ago.  Tanner signing "more."  Trying to sign "mama." Now that we got the kitchen cupboards installed, we could get our family room back to normal. Tanner has been glad to play the piano again! Tanner signing "hat."   A night out to dinner and to watch the sunset at the pier. We took about 30 self family shots on the pier, and we couldn't seem to get "the one." Our little brother, Matt, came to visit us for Labor Day weekend! He paid for the bus ride all on his own to come see us, so we felt very special.   Matt played with Tanner, went to the horse races with Jeremy, gave Tanner a bath, golfed with Jeremy, cleaned our back porch with us, played in the ocean with Jeremy, played ball in the house with Tanner and Jeremy, played basketball on the beach with Jeremy... ...and Matt got rammed in the head by a kite surfer, was gushing blood, got put on a stretcher and rode the ambulance to the hospital where he had x-rays, was told he got a bad concussion and received two giant staples in his head. Matt stayed really calm the whole time, made jokes with the lifegaurds and nurses, and didn't even flinch when they shot him with the staples. I got to watch the nurse do the whole procedure, which was really cool.  What a cute little barrette! and how nice that it won't fall out his hair, haha.
